Appeals
MIST International Journal of Science and Technology (MIJST)
MIJST recognizes that authors may occasionally disagree with editorial decisions. To ensure fairness, transparency, and accountability, the journal provides a formal appeals mechanism.
1 Grounds for Appeal
Authors may appeal a rejection decision if they can demonstrate that the decision was affected by:
- Factual Errors: Clear evidence that reviewers or editors misunderstood the scientific data or technical content.
- Reviewer Bias: Evidence suggesting a conflict of interest or lack of objectivity.
- Procedural Errors: A significant deviation from MIJST’s stated peer-review process.
Appeals based solely on differences in interpretation of novelty, impact, or editorial priority are unlikely to succeed.
2 Submission of Appeal
Authors wishing to appeal must:
- Submit a formal appeal letter to the Editorial Office within 30 days of the decision.
- Provide a detailed, point-by-point response to the reviewers’ and editorial comments.
- Include any additional evidence or clarification necessary to address misunderstandings.
Appeals that do not provide substantive new information may not be considered.
3 Initial Assessment
The Executive Editor conducts an initial review to determine whether the appeal raises valid concerns warranting further examination. If the appeal does not meet the stated grounds, the original decision will stand.
4 Independent Review Process
If accepted, the manuscript may undergo:
5 Final Decision
The final decision on an appeal is made by the Editor-in-Chief or the designated Editorial Board member.
Decisions on appeals are final and cannot be appealed further.
