Conflicts of Interest

Conflict of Interest Policy

MIJST adheres to COPE and ICMJE best practices to ensure that professional judgment is never compromised by secondary interests.

1Applicability

Conflict of Interest (CoI) applies to all participants in the publication process:

Authors: Financial interests (funding, stocks), personal relationships, or professional collaborations.
Reviewers: Competitive/collaborative relationships with authors or stakes in the outcome.
Editors: Institutional affiliations or prior collaborations with submitting authors.

2Disclosure Requirements

Authors: Must include a CoI Statement. If none exists, use: "The authors declare that they have no competing interests."
Reviewers/Editors: Must disclose conflicts immediately and recuse themselves from the decision-making process.

3Management & Outcomes

Pre-Publication: The Editor-in-Chief evaluates disclosures to decide on participation or exclusion.

Post-Publication: If undisclosed conflicts emerge, MIJST follows COPE guidance, which may result in:

  • • Publication of a formal Correction
  • • Expression of Concern
  • • Retraction in severe cases

4Editorial Submissions

To ensure impartiality, submissions from editorial members are handled by external editors to avoid any internal bias.
