Ethics Approval

MIJST requires that all research involving human participants, animals, or sensitive data be conducted according to the highest ethical standards. Compliance with international guidelines is mandatory.

1Research Involving Human Participants

Studies must align with the Declaration of Helsinki. Requirements include:

Institutional Approval: Must obtain approval from an independent IRB or Ethics Committee.
Mandatory Statement: Specify Committee name and approval reference number/ID in the Methods section.
Informed Consent: Confirmation of written informed consent for participation and data publication.

2Research Involving Animals

Adherence to ARRIVE guidelines and NC3Rs standards is required. Research must follow the "3Rs" principle: Replacement, Refinement, and Reduction. Ethics committee IDs must be provided.

3Ethics Exemptions

If formal approval is not legally required (e.g., secondary data):

  • ✓ Provide a formal statement explaining why approval was not required.
  • ✓ Provide links to official national policy confirming exemption where possible.

4Reporting Misconduct

Ethical Integrity: Manuscripts violating these standards will be rejected or retracted following COPE Flowcharts, regardless of local laws.
